Motorcycle Mama
Today was a great day at the ranch. I started the day taking a spin on my motorcycle. WOW. I can’t believe I actually `can say that I rode a motorcycle. It is just my second-day biking, but it has come to me fairly easily, so it has been more fun than stressful. I only wanted to learn so I could, but, in truth, it may become a bit of a bad habit. That is not to say that I disapprove of motorcycles. I have just been on the scene of two unfortunate accidents which made me wonder why people ride at all… but now I know.
Anyway, when I returned to the ranch, I brewed some coffee (YUM) and started working on my computer, only to be interrupted abruptly. José was calling me. Our little goat, Rosita, was about to give birth. Despite being a veterinarian, I have never actually seen a goat being born.
On the other hand, I have given birth to 3 children of my own, and I must say, the goats have us beaten in spades when it comes to parturition. Despite a really big kid, she got to work and pushed her little girl right out, “speedy quick,” as my daughter Ella would have said when she was three. I found the whole process interesting, the baby, darling, and Rosita brave beyond belief.
Feel free to send suggestions for names for her baby!
